What is the easiest way to travel from Paleokastritsa (North West Corfu) to Aghois Georgios (also North West Corfu). Some family members are staying in both areas at the same time, so would like to get together. Is it possible by sea? Please also recommend any sandy beaches in the area.
Yes it would be possible to travel from Paleokastritsa to Agios Georgias by sea however there is not a published ferry timetable so it would be have to be arranged locally. This could mean a day excursion by fishing boat. There is a road link so it would be possible to drive and the island is well worth exploring so car hire may be an option offering freedom and flexibility. There would also be a local bus service. A taxi is another option although this could be the most costly mode of transport. There are many excellent beaches on Corfu, where to the south you have Glyfada and Agios Gordios (where Gerald Durrell wrote My Family and Other Animals). Agios Georgios (N) has its own sandy beach and slightly further north Agios Stefanos is an excellent beach. Barbati on the east coast is recognised as a European Blue Flag Beach. Paleokastritsa is famous as a port but also does have a sandy beach of its own.
